Trump says he will make bitcoin a strategic reserve asset for the United States if elected
US presidential candidate Donald Trump said in his keynote speech at the #BTC 2024 conference that he will make bitcoin a strategic reserve asset if elected.
If I am elected, I will announce that the policy of my administration, the United States of America, is to retain 100 percent of all bitcoins now held by the U. S. government or acquired by it in the future. We will retain 100 percent, Trump said. 'In fact, that's the basis for a strategic national bitcoin reserve. '
the idea of making bitcoin a reserve asset coincides with Trump's recent shift to a more friendly stance toward #cryptocurrencies . The move could bolster bitcoin's legitimacy, attract new investors and raise its price if it comes to fruition.
earlier, billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban also suggested that bitcoin could become a global reserve asset. According to him, bitcoin can act as a "safe haven" in the face of geopolitical uncertainty and inflationary pressures.
Trump was a candidate who supported cryptocurrencies and actively advocated for the industry. He also called for U. S. leadership in the #cryptocurrency sector and emphasized that the country should dominate bitcoin mining.
Trump's campaign also accepted donations in a variety of digital currencies, including Bitcoin, #BTC and Dogecoin.
earlier this month, the Trump-inspired Republican National Committee opposed the creation of the Central Bank of Digital Currencies (CBDC), saying its platform would support crypto-innovation and block any crackdown on cryptocurrencies.
