Former President and current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is scoring major points with crypto-minded voters in the United States. ‘Hello Bitcoiners, it’s good to be with you.’ he started. It seems like Trump’s days of bashing Bitcoin are over. Despite once calling it “scam,” Trump now appears to be offering the crypto community major support.
He said, “Respect and admiration for what the bitcoin community has achieved.” Trump said that Bitcoin has become the most valuable asset in just 15 years. ‘That’s a big deal,’ he said.
“Soon it will surpass the entire market cap of silver. One day it will probably overtake gold. There has never been anything like it. It’s a miracle of cooperation of human achievement,” Trump said.
“Let’s do it and let’s do it right,” he said and added that he wants the United States to embrace technology in the best possible way. “If we don’t embrace China’s will, we cannot let China do it. I want us to be first in tech, AI.” He added, “United States will be the crypto capital of the planet and Bitcoin the superpower of the world’
Although recent polling data indicates most swing state voters view crypto negatively and don’t see it as an important political issue, Trump’s pro-crypto pivot may still appeal to a niche but passionate voter base. On the other hand, Vice President Kamala Harris was invited to the conference but declined due to a prior fundraiser commitment in Pennsylvania.
