Cardano (ADA) es una plataforma de blockchain Proof of Stake (PoS) descentralizada que se fundó en 2017. Es una de las redes de blockchain más grandes y con mayor éxito en la implementación de un mecanismo de consenso PoS, que es más eficiente que las redes de blockchain Proof of Work.

  1. ¿Cuál es el propósito de Cardano?

    El propósito principal de Cardano es facilitar las transacciones con su criptomoneda nativa, ADA, y empoderar a los desarrolladores para construir aplicaciones en su red escalable y sostenible. 

    La blockchain Cardano se divide en dos capas: 

    • La capa Cardano Settlement Layer (CSL) facilita y registra todas las transacciones en ADA. 

    • La capa Cardano Computation Layer (CCL) contiene la lógica de los contratos inteligentes que determina las reglas y condiciones para cada transacción. 

    Cardano utiliza lo que se conoce como Ouroboros, un algoritmo PoS que crea bloques y valida transacciones en la blockchain. Esta red se divide en epochs y slots; los epochs representan los plazos generales y los slots, los intervalos de 20 segundos.

    En cada slot, se elige un líder al azar para agregar el siguiente bloque a la blockchain, y luego, se elige el siguiente líder de slot.

    Existen tres tipos de nodos que operan Cardano:

    • Edge: utilizado para crear transacciones de criptomonedas.

    • mCore: te permite hacer staking de ADA y participar en la gobernanza distribuida.

    • Relay: facilita la transferencia de datos entre mCore y la red pública.
