According to Cointelegraph, ConsenSys has completed the launch of its Ethereum scaling solution Linea, which has attracted more than 150 partners to date and bridged more than $26 million in Ether (ETH) to the platform. Linea will launch the alpha mainnet with some partners in July 2023, allowing developers to migrate existing decentralized applications (DApps) from the Ethereum mainnet or other scaling solutions. The zero-knowledge Ethereum virtual machine (zkEVM) is a second-layer scaling solution that provides lower transaction costs and higher throughput for DApps running in the Ethereum ecosystem.

Linea's mainnet enables a trustless bridge between Ethereum and Layer 2 that can be completed in minutes, providing a capital-efficient environment for the bundling of liquidity. Linea also addresses the shortcomings of optimistic rolling solutions, which require 7 days for withdrawal confirmation. Linea supports a variety of Web3 use cases, and its low transaction costs and high throughput make it particularly suitable for decentralized financial (DeFi) applications.
