đŸ‡čđŸ‡· Authorities in Argentina have become the latest government officials to examine the cryptocurrency project Worldcoin due to privacy concerns. In a statement on August 8, Argentina's Public Information Access Agency (AAIP) said it was investigating whether Worldcoin complies with security and privacy regulations in collecting, storing and using customer data.

🔍 Worldcoin launched its token project in July, which aims to verify users through retinal scanning, which has raised privacy concerns for many. “Citizens have the right to clear and accessible information when data is provided for the purposes of collection and processing, especially when it comes to sensitive data such as biometric data,” AAIP said.

🌍 More than 2 million accounts were registered with Worldcoin before the token launch in July. However, after the retinal scanners were distributed, Germany's Bavarian State Data Protection Supervisory reportedly launched an investigation due to privacy concerns. The French National Commission for Information and Freedoms described the project's data collection methods as "questionable".

đŸš« On August 2, Kenya's Minister of Internal Security announced that the country would suspend Worldcoin's local operations until authorities have the opportunity to assess possible risks to citizens. On August 7, local news outlets reported that Kenyan police raided a Worldcoin property and seized equipment that could contain user data.
