⚡️ Ripple announced the launch of a new stablecoin called Ripple USD (RLUSD).
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse announced the name of the company's future stablecoin at the XRP Ledger (XRPL Apex) Community Summit in Amsterdam.
During the panel discussion, Garlinghouse stated:
“The name of Ripple’s stablecoin is RLUSD; I like to call it Real USD or Ripple USD.”
While Garlinghouse did not reveal a launch date, he expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting that it complements the broader XRP ecosystem. RLUSD will be a dollar-pegged stablecoin available on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum.
This announcement follows Ripple's recent appointment of Jack McDonald, CEO of the recently acquired Standard Custody, as senior vice president of stablecoins.
