The High Court of London, which can be called the most influential intellectual property court in the world, heard the case of Craig Wright and his false statements about what he satoshi Nakamoto and the author of the Bitcoin White Book. The courtroom was packed because people wanted to hear the final arguments of lawyers from the Cropto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), which represents the interests of Bitcoin developers and companies. The purpose of this trial is not to find out whether Wright lied (and he did), but to determine the amount of punishment he should suffer. COPA lead attorney Jonathan Hough is demanding that Wright be prohibited from making public statements about his identity as Satoshi Nakamoto. The Alliance is also seeking to have the court ensure that Wright cannot legally appeal the decision.

Moreover, COPA plans to ensure that the claim for violation of intellectual rights is reclassified into a criminal case. The alliance also asked to include Wright's former colleague at nChain, Stefan Matthews, among those charged in the criminal case for perjury. COPA representatives reminded the judge that Matthews supported Wright with false testimony even after the court found his statements to be false. During the hearing, the judge agreed that the court was entitled to impose an “exceptional” sentence on Wright because of his massive, multi-year campaign to mislead the world about him o personality. The court also has the option to put Wright behind bars for many years.
