Coinspeaker Uniswap Fee Switch Is Now Course at Stanford University
Uniswap is in the spotlight as it has seen the addition of its innovative “Fee Switch” design as a course at Stanford University.
According to Jay Yu, the President of Stanford Crypto, the subject was taught as part of the standard Stanford curriculum. He particularly took a lecture on “Uniswap Governance for Stanford’s ‘CS 352B/LAW 1078: Blockchain Governance,’ looking at UNI delegation, the Wormhole Controversy, and the Fee Switch.”

Stanford University Students Learning About Uniswap
For his lectures, Yu talked about Uniswap as an example of “DAO Delegation in Practice,” as well as the protocol’s role as Stanford Blockchain Club in this process. His class began with a discussion of Uniswap’s overall DAO Governance Process which includes the request for comment, temperature check, and governance proposals.
The conversations continued with a walk through several key votes and proposals, like Prop 24 and they further discussed the Uniswap Foundation’s role as a facilitator in governance. Noteworthy, Prop 24 is the protocol that created the Uniswap Foundation. Yu also discussed the Wormhole Controversy of Prop 31 in Feb 2023, highlighting what it reveals about some of the challenges of decentralized governance in practice.
The new Fee Switch proposal from February 2024 was the final subject that was discussed, per Yu’s post on X. The focus was on how the Unistaker protocol rewards both UNI stakers and incentivizes protocol governance.
This appears not to be a one-off thing as Yu highlighted that the hybrid CS/LAW class has covered a variety of Blockchain Governance topics in the last eight weeks. The topics were from both a theoretical and practical perspective, including delegation, quadratic voting, and wrapped/unwrapped DAOs.
Blockchain Education Gets Listed on Global Curriculums
This Stanford-Uniswap alignment underscores the growing integration of blockchain education around the world.
The University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich recently announced its plan to break new ground in cryptocurrency education by launching a pioneering Bitcoin (BTC) course in March 2025. The new course is designed specifically for individuals who want to integrate BTC into new business models, reflecting the increasing importance of cryptocurrencies in the modern economic landscape.
Even Binance’s former CEO Changpeng Zhao who recently received a 4-month sentence, introduced his upcoming project Giggle Academy which would offer educational content for students in grades one and two. He described the content of the information that will be shared with the children as “gamified” and “adaptive”. Giggle Academy is currently in the process of hiring and will provide free, engaging games designed to help users learn while having fun.
It appears many of such integrations will be seen in the near future. As of the beginning of this year, Binance Academy promises to push Web 3.0 and blockchain education across every part of the world. Consequently, it plans to integrate blockchain education into the global school curriculum, starting with over 200 universities spread across more than 50 countries.
