Donald Trump has promised to release Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht if he is re-elected in November's election.

Known as the first modern darknet market with a payment system based on Bitcoin, Silk Road was launched in 2011 and was operated by Ulbricht from his personal laptop.

Ulbricht was convicted in 2015 and sentenced to two life terms plus forty years in prison with no possibility of parole.
