According to U.Today, Elon Musk has introduced a new update to the Grok AI, a chatbot developed by his latest startup, xAI. AI activist Rowan Cheung recently shared news of the update, which includes a new feature called 'Stories'. This feature, currently available only to X Premium subscribers on the web and iOS platforms, allows users to access real-time, accurate information summarized by Grok.
In late March, Musk announced the forthcoming release of Grok 1.5, a new iteration of the AI bot. The updated version is designed to process visual information, including documents, diagrams, charts, photos, and screenshots. It will utilize a powerful module, RealWorldQA, to enhance its understanding of real-world events and processes. Musk has also stated that Grok 1.5 will be capable of reading and summarizing various X posts and assisting users in creating posts that include both text and images.
A recent report from xAI indicates that Grok has outperformed its main competitors, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT. Grok is currently more affordable, with X users only needing to pay for the X Premium subscription to access it. The monthly fee is $8, compared to ChatGPT-4's $20 subscription fee, making Grok 60% less expensive.
In 2023, Musk criticized ChatGPT for avoiding discussions on sensitive social issues such as sex, religion, politics, and gender, labeling it as 'woke'. This led him to develop his own AI product as an alternative to OpenAI. Musk has since suggested that AI should be trained to be as truthful as possible, emphasizing its importance for the future of humanity. Other tech giants have since begun developing AI bots following OpenAI's model.
