Beware of This Form of Scam: Bitcoin Investor Lost Tens of Millions of Dollars!

Cryptocurrency investor had $68 million worth of Bitcoin (BTC) stolen due to “address poisoning”.

Blockchain detective ZachXBT shed light on the $68 million Bitcoin robbery that took place on May 3. Due to "address poisoning", a user sent 1,115 Bitcoins worth $68 million not to the address he wanted, but to another address determined by the attackers. It was too late because he realized after making the transfer that the address was wrong.

The attackers, who carried out address poisoning by changing the last addresses in the victim's transaction history, took advantage of the careless user not checking the address in question when sending crypto money to the last transferred address.

The 1,115 Bitcoins destined for the attacker's wallet have not yet been moved.

This is a type of fraud that is encountered from time to time in the cryptocurrency industry. Attackers can place an address very similar to the target address as a trojan horse, making it difficult to verify the address.
