Cboe Global Markets has submitted a proposal to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to allow for the combination of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and mutual funds. If approved, this would enable issuers to offer similar mutual funds and ETFs within one investment vehicle. This could also potentially allow Bitcoin ETF shares to be added to a mutual fund’s portfolio. The SEC must approve or reject the application within 240 days. This comes as the North American ETF market is projected to surpass $8 trillion in 2024 and grow to $15.52 trillion by 2029.
