PANews reported on January 30 that according to Decrypt, a new report released by blockchain security company PeckShield showed that the total losses caused by cryptocurrency hacking in 2023 were US$2.6 billion, of which US$675 million had been recovered. This figure is down from US$3.6 billion in 2022. The report pointed out that decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols were the main target of hacker attacks, accounting for 67% of the total stolen value. PeckShield also mentioned in its report that more than 600 major hacking incidents occurred in the crypto space in 2023.
