Optimism is a scalable layer-2 blockchain for Ethereum that reduces transaction fees and increases network throughput. The project uses Optimistic Rollups, a proprietary technology that allows Ethereum transactions to be rolled up into smaller blocks for processing.
Vitalik Buterin, founder of Ethereum, has already stated that the next big story in crypto is Layer-2 solutions with different approaches.
But why is the Optimism growing? Firstly, the token's growth is not trivial. Although analogues such as Polygon have made hundreds of profits in the bull market for both funds and ordinary investors who bought into the market.
If we compare the chart of Polygon and Optimism, we see a lot of similarities. Optimism's growth potential, in my opinion, is at least x3-4 of Polygon's ATH ($3).
The project is an ecosystem project, and many people transact on Optimism because it is cheap and fast (a transfer costs a few cents). Moreover, even Binance uses OP rollup technology - they have created their own "optimistic" opBNB on Optimism technology to offload and speed up the main network.
