According to Blockworks, Solana’s high-performance client Firedancer, developed by Jump Crypto, has entered the testnet stage. Jump Chief Scientist Kevin Bowers said at the Solana Breakpoint conference that Firedancer reached 1 million TPS in synthetic testing.
A crypto VC has sparked a debate with the Ethereum community after posting on social media about Solana launching a “1 million TPS client.” Namik Muduroglu, a member of the MegaETH founding team, pointed out that the Solana protocol’s current TPS cap is around 81,000.
The Solana community responded that the 81,000 TPS parameter can be changed, noting that MegaETH has not yet been released. TPS is a measure of the number of transactions processed per second by a blockchain, but the situation in actual applications is more complicated.
Nick Ducoff, head of the Solana Foundation, said higher TPS is important for use cases such as high-frequency trading, which is in line with Solana's vision of a decentralized Nasdaq.
