Billionaire Mark Cuban said he would consider serving as head of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) if Kamala Harris wins the presidential election, Cointelegraph reported.
Cuban recently said in an interview with Fox News that he prefers to be the chairman of the SEC, believing that current chairman Gary Gensler is not good for cryptocurrencies and business. He also praised Harris' commitment to technology such as artificial intelligence.
It’s unclear whether Cuban is seriously considering serving in a Harris administration or has discussed it with her campaign.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk is also likely to head the "Department of Government Effectiveness" in the Trump administration. The 2024 presidential election has attracted the participation of several high-profile billionaires.
Cryptocurrencies are playing an increasing role in U.S. politics. Harris said her administration would support digital assets and blockchain technology, but has not yet mentioned cryptocurrencies specifically. Trump and his son recently launched a DeFi business, World Liberty Financial, to mixed reactions.
