According to Cointelegraph, Anthropic AI recently launched the "Artifacts" feature to paid and free Claude users, and is available on iOS and Android devices for the first time. The Artifacts feature automatically separates certain information in user conversations into separate windows, containing detailed information, code snippets, etc.

The feature was initially launched in June with Claude 3.5 Sonnet as a preview system, available only to paid users. Preview users called it one of the most “useful” and “cool” additions to the chatbot space.

Anthropic says that when users ask Claude to generate a code snippet, text file, or website design, those artifacts appear in a dedicated window next to the conversation, creating a dynamic workspace where users can view, edit, and build on Claude's creations in real time.

Since June, more than 10 million artifacts have been created, many of which contain developer code. Other users have also praised the feature's ability to collaboratively create project overviews, designs, and more complex workflows.

The update comes as Anthropic is locked in a tug-of-war with California lawmakers over a controversial bill that would hold AI developers liable for harm caused by their models and is awaiting approval or veto by Gov. Gavin Newsom by August 31.
