According to Cointelegraph, a recent survey showed that women consider cryptocurrency to be one of the least attractive hobbies for men, less attractive than watching anime, role-playing or reading comic books. The survey was conducted by the Date Psychology blog on August 24, with a sample of 814 people, 48% of whom were women.

The survey found that only 23.1% of women found cryptocurrency an attractive hobby, while about a third of women found comic books and role-playing appealing. Cryptocurrency was considered the second most disliked "nerdy" hobby for women, second only to collecting Funko products.

When asked which hobbies women would find most appealing, 13.7% of men thought women would be attracted to cryptocurrency. However, the majority of men correctly believed women would find playing a musical instrument most appealing.

The survey results showed that women considered reading to be the most attractive hobby for men (98.2%), followed by mastering or learning a foreign language (95.6%) and playing a musical instrument (95.4%).

Despite the findings, the authors note that hobbies should be based on personal interest, not the opinions of others. Choosing a hobby simply to appeal to others is unlikely to stick with it.

In April, a Pew Research survey of 10,701 U.S. adults, including 5,936 women, showed that women were more skeptical than men about investing, trading or using cryptocurrencies. Only 10% of women had ever traded, used or invested in cryptocurrencies, compared to 25% of men.

Nearly 40% of women who have ever used cryptocurrency said they no longer hold it, compared with about 30% of men.
