According to Odaily Planet Daily, a survey conducted by the German central bank, the Deutsche Bundesbank, on 2012 people showed that 50% of respondents said that if the digital euro was an additional payment method, they would "definitely" or "probably" consider using it. However, three-fifths of German respondents said they had "never heard of, read or seen" anything about the digital euro. Among those who responded that they had heard of the digital euro, 16% believed it was a cryptocurrency, and only 17% of respondents correctly answered that it was a central bank digital currency (CBDC). The president of the German central bank stressed the need to better educate people about this digital currency and said that "a lot of information still needs to be provided." The European Central Bank (ECB) announced that the digital euro can be used offline, and the transaction details "are only known to the payer and the payee." It is currently in the preparation stage and is expected to be completed in October 2025, with a focus on determining the rules and finding possible issuers.
