According to CoinDesk, Web3 infrastructure and digital credential network Galxe (GAL) said on Wednesday that it is building its own first-layer smart contract platform Gravity and migrating all products to the new blockchain. The first version of the network will be launched in the second quarter of 2025, built on the Arbitrum Nitro technology stack, and will begin testing open and transparent cross-chain settlements. The Galxe team said Gravity was created because the platform’s user base has grown significantly over the past three years, now having 20 million users and 100 million transactions per month. This requires a more efficient and scalable solution to manage cross-chain interactions between the 34 blockchains supported by Galxe. Gravity will be a proof-of-stake blockchain while supporting restaking via EigenLayer and Babylon to leverage the security of the Ethereum network. The chain will also receive a new native token G, and the contract migration of the existing token GAL has been approved by the platform’s Decentralized Autonomous Organization. The network will use Reth as the execution layer and the consensus algorithm Jolteon (AptosBFT) to achieve near-instant transaction finality and high throughput. It will also be compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). Galxe Passport, which has nearly 1 million users, will migrate from BNB Chain (BNB) to Gravity, while the Galxe Score contract will migrate from Polygon (MATIC) to the new chain.
