According to Odaily Planet Daily, Max Hillebrand, CEO of zkSNACKs, said in an interview that the closure of the CoinJoin mixing service is to ensure compliance with the latest laws and regulatory updates in the United States. Hillebrand said that the closure of the CoinJoin service is necessary given the lack of clarity in the United States' regulation of the cryptocurrency field and the use of privacy-enhancing tools.
He added that the Bitcoin ecosystem will inevitably lose an important service, but Bitcoin privacy will continue to exist. It also confirmed that Wasabi Wallet, a Bitcoin wallet developed by zkSNACKs and integrated with the CoinJoin service, will continue to operate as a regular Bitcoin wallet. Users can generate private keys to receive and send Bitcoin. It should be noted that US users will be banned from using Wasabi Wallet. Earlier news, due to the crackdown on privacy tools by US regulators and authorities and the constant pressure from law enforcement agencies, zkSNACKs will shut down its CoinJoin mixing service from June 1.
