According to Bloomberg, a note that read "Buy Bitcoin" was sold at auction for 16 bitcoins, or $1.027 million.

The hastily crafted sign was displayed by an intern during televised congressional testimony by Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen in 2017. Since then, the price of bitcoin has surged from about $2,300 to an all-time high of nearly $74,000 in March of this year. Early bitcoin artifacts like this have become popular again as retail investors are drawn back to the cryptocurrency market after several years of turmoil and price volatility.

The winner of the sign was an anonymous buyer. Christian Langalis, the seller of the sign, plans to use the proceeds to fund a bitcoin software project.
