Societe Generale announced that it has issued its first digital green bond on Ethereum on November 30, 2023 in the form of security tokens directly registered by Societe Generale's regulated subsidiary SG-FORGE to improve ESG data transparency and traceability. AXA Investment Managers and Generali Investments fully subscribed to these security tokens through a private placement. The structure of this first operation is 10 million euros of senior priority unsecured bonds with a term of 3 years.
The innovation of this digital green bond issuance is that the carbon footprint information related to the digital bond infrastructure can be obtained directly in the bond's smart contract in an open access manner 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; investors can also conduct on-chain securities settlement through EUR CoinVertible (a digital asset issued by SG-FORGE in April 2023).
