According to Foresight News, Victor Chang of the Australian Heart Research Institute has chosen Filecoin as its preferred method for storing large amounts of research data, and has stored approximately 137 TB of heart research data in the storage provider Distributed Storage Solutions (DSS) on the Filecoin network.
Todd Ryman, IT director of the institute, said that the migration to Filecoin officially began in September 2022. The reason for choosing Filecoin instead of local storage systems and cloud-based solutions is that Filecoin can save costs and enable the sharing of medical data with other researchers.
