According to Foresight News, the London Stock Exchange has developed a new digital market business plan that will become the first major exchange to provide extensive trading of traditional financial assets on blockchain technology. Murray Roos, head of capital markets, said that the exchange will use the technology that supports popular tokens such as Bitcoin to improve the efficiency of buying, selling and holding traditional assets, rather than building a business around crypto assets.
The London Stock Exchange is considering using a separate legal entity for its digital market business and getting the first market up and running within the next year, subject to regulatory approval. The exchange is in talks with regulators in multiple jurisdictions, the UK government and the Treasury to build a global platform.
