The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) reviewed some models used by cryptocurrency games, warning Filipino citizens to be wary of various schemes used to defraud funds from the gaming community, Daily Planet reported. Philippine police highlighted the “play and earn (P2E)” model used by Axie Infinity. PNP ACG said playing crypto games may be riskier than investing in cryptocurrencies because gamers can easily lose digital tokens and NFTs. The warning states: “Just because a game’s underlying blockchain is secure, does not mean its engine or marketplace is secure.” PNP ACG advises users to conduct thorough research on the ecosystem and founders before investing in cryptocurrencies , and be cautious when interacting with unknown individuals and phishing links.
