President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde assured that Bitcoin is not considered an option for the reserves of central banks not only in the eurozone but throughout the European Union. She stated this at a briefing on Thursday, January 30.
She explained that the reserves of central banks must be liquid, reliable, and must not raise any suspicions regarding money laundering or other criminal activities.
"As a result, I am confident that Bitcoin will not enter the reserves of any of the central banks of the Governing Council," Lagarde is quoted by Bloomberg.
The Governing Council of the ECB includes representatives from both eurozone countries (using the euro) and EU countries that are not part of the eurozone (such as Poland, the Czech Republic, etc.). Therefore, when Lagarde speaks about the position of the Governing Council, she is effectively expressing the consensus of all central banks in the EU, not just the eurozone.$XRP #XRPETFIncoming?
