â While Bloomberg estimated Changpeng's fortune at $17 billion two months ago, that value has now more than doubled. This valuation is all the more surprising given that CZ is currently facing problems with the American justice system.
đ¨Changpeng Zhao's fortune is estimated at $36.2 billion
â Just 2 months ago, we looked back at the fortune of Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the founder of Binance, which had been largely impacted by the bear market.
â Estimated at the time at $17.3 billion by Bloomberg in its ranking of billionaires, CZ's assets have however been largely revalued since then, despite the problems that the person concerned is experiencing with the American justice system.
â As the chart below shows, the current figures, although lower than this summer's annual highs, represent an increase of more than 187% over a 12-month period.
â This comes in a particular context for the former CEO of Binance, as he had to face heavy sanctions in the United States regarding the irregularities of the exchange he founded.
â Thus, he owes his freedom to a bail of 175 million dollars while awaiting his trial, while the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) fined him 150 million dollars.
â Despite these difficulties and the uncertainty weighing on CZ's shoulders, we nevertheless note that this does not seem to impact his fortune. Indeed, even if he was forced to leave his position, he nevertheless retained his shares.
