Arbitrum DAO is conducting an important vote to introduce the Bounded Liquidity Delay (BoLD) protocol for the Arbitrum One and Nova chains. This upgrade is set to be trialed on the testnet starting in April 2024, and if the proposal passes, it is expected to be officially implemented on the mainnet in February 2025.
The core goal of the BoLD protocol is to enhance the security of withdrawals to the Ethereum mainnet. It does this by setting a fixed time window (13 days plus a 2-day grace period) to handle chain state disputes, thereby reducing the risk of malicious delay attacks. Additionally, BoLD will shift from a whitelist-based validation to an open validation system, allowing anyone to participate in network security validation. This change is expected to further enhance the security and stability of the Arbitrum network.🔒✨
