BlockBeats reported on January 8 that, according to the WSJ, Amazon-backed OpenAI competitor and AI startup Anthropic is in deep negotiations for a $2 billion funding deal, which would value it at $60 billion.

According to informed sources, this round of financing was led by venture capital firm Lightspeed Venture Partners. According to data provider CB Insights, this deal will make Anthropic the fifth most valuable U.S. startup, following SpaceX, OpenAI, Stripe, and Databricks.

Last year, in a funding round led by Menlo Ventures, the company's valuation reached $18 billion.
