A Canadian man claims he became a kidnapping target because kidnappers mistakenly believed he held a large amount of Bitcoin, and was subsequently forced to go into hiding with his family.

According to BlockBeats, on January 7, a crypto forum administrator and father of four claimed that after becoming a target of an attempted kidnapping, he was forced to go into hiding with his family. This Canadian man stated that the assailants intended to torture him and mistakenly believed he possessed a large amount of Bitcoin.

This Canadian man, whose name has not been disclosed to protect the identity of the children, was told by the police that they could not guarantee the safety of his family and suggested they relocate, as the alleged assailants may be linked to organized crime. Subsequently, the family decided to continuously change their Airbnb accommodations and live off their savings.

Two adults have been arrested and face charges of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and possession of illegal firearms. Two minor suspects have also been arrested.
