PANews, January 6th – Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin shared his latest views on d/acc (decentralized acceleration) in a recent blog post, pointing out the important connection between d/acc and cryptocurrencies. d/acc extends the underlying values of cryptocurrencies, such as decentralization, resistance to censorship, and open economic and social concepts, to other technological fields. Cryptocurrency users, as early adopters, naturally make their community a testing ground for d/acc technology. The community places a high value on practice rather than empty talk, making the cryptocurrency community an ideal incubator for d/acc technology, especially in fields such as information and biological defense. Cryptocurrency practitioners excel at collaborative action. Additionally, technologies such as blockchain and zero-knowledge proofs can be applied to the financial, governance, and social media infrastructure construction of d/acc, protecting privacy, among others. Nowadays, many prediction markets based on blockchain are trending towards complexity, decentralization, and democratization. Collaborating on cryptocurrency-related technologies, such as formal verification, hardware and software security, and robust governance techniques, benefits cryptocurrency projects and is crucial for achieving d/acc goals, enhancing the security and robustness of the Ethereum blockchain, wallets, and DAOs, while reducing vulnerability to network attacks (including superintelligent AI threats). Besides these direct intersections, there is another critically important common focus: funding mechanisms. This is a way the cryptocurrency community can help d/acc in another manner: by carefully exploring these funding mechanisms and making them work in their environment, preparing for broader adoption of open-source science and technology.
In the coming decades, we will face two major challenges: first, the rapid development of new technologies, especially artificial intelligence, which may bring both positive and negative outcomes, with specific timing unknown; second, a decrease in international cooperation, as many actors pursue their own interests. However, there is also hope: firstly, we have powerful tools to accelerate the work process, such as AI assisting the development of other technologies, brain-computer interfaces enhancing productivity, the internet and social media expanding coordination, cryptocurrencies strengthening financial power, and information defense and collaboration tools improving quality. Moreover, significant progress has been made in cybersecurity technology, software development, biological defense, and biotechnology. Secondly, broad alliances can reclaim cherished principles; cryptocurrencies have gained global recognition, and d/acc has this potential as well. Having tools means we can improve biological entities and the environment, with the 'defense' in d/acc ensuring this is achieved without infringing on others' freedoms. Liberal pluralism allows for diversity, and shared human goals drive us to complete tasks. Faced with the daunting task of building a brighter 21st century, he believes humanity is up to the challenge.
