[Lost $8,000 on Kekius Maximus: A Lesson in Investing]
I’ve been in the crypto space for a long time and have always avoided meme coins including Shiba, Doge, Pepe, Bonk, Wif, Bome, etc. These projects go against my philosophical standpoint, as I’ve always focused on fundamentally sound investments.
However, I recently made a decision that didn’t align with my usual strategy: I purchased over 32,000 Kekius Maximus tokens and ended up losing around $8,000. My decision was mainly influenced by Elon Musk’s involvement. Like many others, I speculated that Elon might repeat the magic he worked with Dogecoin. But this time, things didn’t go as expected, and the loss occurred.
Here’s the twist:
I understand the rules of investment and have been performing well in this space for nearly half a decade. Even seasoned investors make mistakes. The key, however, is in risk management.
As George Soros (who I personally dislike) said:
“Investing is not about being right or wrong. It’s about how much you make when you’re right and how much you lose when you’re wrong.”
So why doesn’t this $8,000 loss matter much in the bigger picture? 1. Proper Risk Allocation: This loss came from a small, high-risk portion of my portfolio. • 90% of my portfolio is allocated to well-established crypto projects. • The remaining 10% is reserved for high-risk investments, and Kekius Maximus accounted for less than 5% of my total portfolio. 2. Portfolio Resilience: A good investment strategy ensures that no single loss can crush the entire portfolio. This loss, while significant, is a small fraction of my overall assets.
The Takeaway
Risk wisely. Mistakes are part of the journey, but proper risk management ensures they don’t derail your progress. If you want to make 100x overnight, better you go to Casino.
