According to BlockBeats, on January 2, Cointelegraph reported that cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius appealed a ruling by the judge that did not support its claim against FTX during the ongoing proceedings of its bankruptcy case.
Celsius has been trying to recover hundreds of millions of dollars from FTX, initially claiming that so-called 'derogatory remarks' made by FTX executives towards Celsius led to its accelerated collapse, seeking $2 billion in compensation. Subsequently, the claim was modified to focus on 'priority payment transfers', accusing FTX of giving preferential treatment to certain creditors instead of treating them equally, and seeking $444 million in compensation.
However, Judge Dorsey dismissed both claims in December, stating that the original claim submitted by Celsius only contained a brief statement about a possible priority claim investigation, which was insufficient to maintain the validity of its priority claim.
On December 31, Mohsin Meghji, the litigation manager for Celsius Network and its affiliated debtors, filed a notice of appeal regarding Judge Dorsey's memorandum opinion and order.
