🚀MicroStrategy invests another $209 million in Bitcoin, with a total holding of over 446,000 coins and an unrealized profit exceeding $13 billion
The world's largest Bitcoin-holding company, MicroStrategy, has made another move, spending $209 million to purchase 2,136 Bitcoins.
This marks their eighth consecutive Monday of buying Bitcoin, and their total Bitcoin holdings now exceed 446,000 coins.
Between November and early December, MicroStrategy made several large acquisitions; despite a slowdown in purchases this month, the company continues to invest millions of dollars.
This data was released by their co-founder Michael Saylor via Twitter, with the purchase price of Bitcoin being $97,834 per coin. So far, they have spent nearly $28 billion, with an average purchase price of $62,428 per coin.
Currently, the Bitcoin held by MicroStrategy is valued at approximately $41.5 billion. This means their unrealized profit has now exceeded $13 billion.
However, every time they buy Bitcoin, Bitcoin critic Peter Schiff jumps out to criticize Saylor and his company. This gold enthusiast has claimed multiple times that MicroStrategy's purchases are the sole factor driving up Bitcoin prices.
Schiff also stated that such "smaller purchases" at an average price above the current price are unlikely to sustain Bitcoin's price increases.
It's worth noting that Bitcoin's price has dropped significantly in recent weeks. After the December FOMC meeting, Bitcoin's price fell from a high of $108,000 to below $93,000, a drop of about 15%.
