A Chinese-American tech company founder, Siqi Chen, launched a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe during Christmas to raise medical research funds for his daughter's rare tumor disease 'Adamantinomatous Craniopharyngioma', with a target of $300,000. The beneficiary of the funds is the Children’s Hospital Foundation at the University of Colorado. Just before the New Year, a miracle happened when an anonymous person donated the meme coin $Mira, minted on the Solana chain, to him. After the news broke, the meme coin surged to nearly $18 million in market value within hours. Although the price has since fallen, it allowed the beneficiary, the Hankinson Laboratory at the University of Colorado, to receive the largest virtual currency donation in history. Adamantinomatous Craniopharyngioma is a rare disease that affects only two in a million people, leading to a shortage of academic research funding and making it difficult to raise funds for research.

Father raises funds for daughter with a rare disease in collaboration with the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Colorado.

Siqi Chen describes on the GoFundMe page that his daughter Mira has been diagnosed with a rare brain tumor called Adamantinomatous Craniopharyngioma. Although it is a benign tumor, it is located in a dangerous area of the brain and may negatively impact his daughter's future life.

In the past few months, this father has collaborated with Dr. Todd Hankinson at the Hankinson Laboratory at the University of Colorado on research for drugs to slow tumor growth. His daughter Mira is currently undergoing clinical treatment and funds need to be raised to continue her treatment and support new drug development.

An anonymous person donated Solana $MIRA meme coin, which skyrocketed within a few hours.

An anonymous person minted the meme coin $Mira on the Solana chain, named after Siqi Chen's daughter. The anonymous individual donated 50% of the minted meme coin supply to the Hankinson Laboratory at the University of Colorado, which specializes in researching rare tumor diseases. After the news was revealed on the father’s X community, the $Mira meme coin immediately surged within hours, with current market data from Coingecko showing a market value of approximately $17.31 million. This allowed the rare disease laboratory to receive the largest donation ever before the New Year.

The Mira meme coin cannot be immediately sold and converted to cash; a large short-term sale would lead to a price drop and crash. Siqi Chen stated on Twitter that he will gradually sell the Mira meme coin and emphasized that he will not let the community be Rugged.

According to Siqi Chen's personal profile on X, he is a team member of the development teams for Sandbox, Postmates, and Zynga. His four-year-old daughter has just undergone surgery and has received nearly a thousand caring messages. His GoFundMe page shows that the target of $300,000 has not yet been achieved, with only 83% raised, but the meme coin has accomplished his mission.
