Trump's ally, American tech giant Musk stated today (December 28): "America has risen to greatness over the past 150 years because it values elite rule more than anywhere else on Earth. I will fight to the last drop of blood to ensure this land is always filled with freedom and opportunity." (See attached image 2) As an elite, Musk has a strong sense of elitism. He believes that Americans now admire mediocrity and that elite education needs to be restarted while attracting elite immigrants from around the world to the United States. Ramaswamy, who co-leads the Department of Government Efficiency with him, shares the same view. They believe that American culture has admired mediocrity for too long, neglecting excellence (at least since the 1990s, possibly longer). This admiration does not start in college but begins at a young age. They argue that if a culture admires prom queens rather than math Olympiad champions or athletes rather than valedictorians, such a culture will not produce the best engineers. They propose that the U.S. needs to reform the H-1B visa system, which should be replaced by a system focused on selecting the best talent (rather than a lottery), conducive to competition (not providing contractual services to one company), and non-bureaucratic.
