FBI Links North Korean Hackers to $308 Million DMM Bitcoin Exchange Heist
The FBI has attributed the May 2024 theft of 4,502.9 Bitcoin (valued at $308 million at the time) from Japan's DMM Bitcoin exchange to North Korea's Lazarus Group. The hackers employed social engineering tactics, impersonating recruiters on LinkedIn to infiltrate a crypto wallet software company's network, ultimately compromising DMM's systems.
