Animoca Brands, a major player in the blockchain gaming industry, has just announced that the X account of co-founder Yat Siu was hacked, leading to the promotion of a scam token on Solana's Pump.fun platform.
- The hacker impersonated Animoca, falsely announcing the launch of the token. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT confirmed that this hack was due to a phishing attack, targeting over 15 crypto-related X accounts and siphoning nearly $500,000.
- The hacked account shared links to a fake token named Animoca Brands (MOCA). This token quickly reached a value of nearly $37,000 before collapsing to just $5,735.
- Siu warned that 2FA is not enough to protect accounts and recommended improving verification measures. 🔒
