According to TechFlow, on December 26, Businessinsider reported that former FTX executive Salame pleaded guilty in September last year to conspiracy to participate in illegal political donations and unlicensed remittance business operations. He was sentenced to 7 and a half years in prison and began serving his sentence in October this year. However, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons records, Salame's release date is scheduled for March 1, 2031, just over a year away from 7 and a half years. A spokesperson for the Bureau of Prisons said that the agency does not comment on the conditions of imprisonment of any inmate, including release plans, but said that under the 2018 First Step Act, inmates can get reduced time if they behave well.
