Odaily Planet Daily News: This month, Google claims that its newly launched Willow quantum computing chip has made breakthroughs, and this emerging technology has attracted attention, as one day hackers may be able to crack the encryption technology that protects Bitcoin. Such a hacking attack could devastate Bitcoin's price, as thieves could steal Bitcoin from what should be secure digital wallets. Researchers indicate that a quantum device powerful enough to crack Bitcoin may take ten years or more to emerge. Nevertheless, advancements in this technology pose long-term risks unless the Bitcoin developer community strengthens its technology through time-consuming upgrades. Analysts warn that quantum attacks on Bitcoin could have harmful spillover effects on traditional financial markets. Arthur Herman, a senior researcher at the Hudson Institute based in Washington D.C., said, "If someone gains the ability to develop a quantum computer hacker and decides to use that ability to attack cryptocurrency, then what you have now is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode."
