According to official news, THORChain V3 has been released, introducing the following new features: - Upgraded to Cosmos SDK v0.50 This update keeps THORChain in line with the latest developments in the Cosmos ecosystem. The addition of smart contract functionality (including support for the CosmWasm module) allows developers to deploy smart contracts directly on THORChain. This enables innovation within smart contracts while isolating risk. This shift also paves the way for compatibility with the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, allowing THORChain to monitor IBC-supporting chains from Bifrost, thereby reducing the cost of integration. - Switching from Tendermint to CometBFT As part of the Cosmos SDK v0.50 update, THORChain has transitioned its consensus layer from Tendermint to CometBFT. This upgrade enhances the consensus mechanism with improved performance, security, and scalability. - Cosmos ecosystem compatibility The addition of the default Cosmos MsgSend functionality ensures that THORChain can more easily integrate with a broader Cosmos ecosystem. - Rujira application layer The Rujira application layer is a key feature of THORChain v3, resulting from the collaboration of DeFi projects (Kujira, Levana, Fuzion, Unstake, and Wink) into the Rujira alliance. This collaboration unifies disparate DeFi tools into a seamless experience, enabling developers to build DApps directly on THORChain's liquidity pools. The Rujira application layer will share 50% of the generated fees with THORChain, supplementing THORChain's total revenue. Additionally, as the Rujira layer will utilize the underlying layer pools, it will increase the exchange volume of THORChain's base pools.
