Golden Finance reported that in a report released by Chainalysis on December 19, North Korean hackers stole over $1.3 billion in cryptocurrency in 47 incidents that occurred in 2024, accounting for approximately 61% of all reported theft amounts for that year. Chainalysis stated, "North Korea's cryptocurrency attacks seem to be becoming more frequent," and added, "It is noteworthy that the frequency of attacks in 2024 involving amounts ranging from $50 million to $100 million and those exceeding $100 million is much higher than in 2023, indicating that North Korea is becoming increasingly effective and faster at carrying out large-scale attacks. This contrasts sharply with the previous two years, during which North Korea's attacks were more frequent, but the profits from each attack were under $50 million."
