Putin: Ready to Talk to Trump, Negotiate with Ukraine

Speaking at the annual end-of-year conference on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed his readiness to talk, hold discussions or meet with US President-elect Donald Trump at any time, stressing that he has not spoken to Trump for more than four years.

Putin noted that Russia would not be in a weaker position if such talks were held with Trump, given that his country has become much stronger over the past two or three years, and stressed that the Russian administration would be keen to make decisions related to it without taking into account the opinion of anyone from outside, and only in accordance with what serves its national interests.

At the same time, Putin stressed that Russia is ready to enter into negotiations with Ukraine at any time in order to put an end to the ongoing war between the two countries, noting that the other party also needs to be open to talks in order to reach settlements
