According to Deep Tide TechFlow news, on December 19, Cointelegraph reported that the Bavarian Data Protection Supervisory Authority (BayLDA) in Germany announced a requirement for the digital identity project World (formerly Worldcoin) to delete biometric data that does not comply with GDPR standards within one month after the ruling takes effect. BayLDA Chairman Michael Will stated that the decision aims to strengthen user rights, and all users who provided iris data will be granted full data deletion rights.

The World Foundation has appealed this decision, seeking judicial clarification from the regulator on whether its Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) comply with the EU's definition of anonymization law.
