Golden Finance reports that Bitfinex hacker Ilya Lichtenstein posted a five-minute video on X, marking his first public statement since his arrest in 2022. In the video, Ilya Lichtenstein reiterated that he is the hacker and acted alone, denying speculation from the Netflix documentary about his wife and father (or possibly some intelligence agency, possibly Russian) possibly being involved in the theft, and expressed plans to work in cybersecurity after his release. Ilya Lichtenstein is imprisoned on suspicion of stealing 120,000 bitcoins from Bitfinex in 2016, and the video was recorded during a remote visit with his wife in prison.
