The US Federal Reserve has once again slashed interest rates by 25 basis points in what is the third consecutive month of easing. This comes amid preparations of incoming Trump administration. In the Fed’s words:

In considering the extent and timing of additional adjustments to the target range for the federal funds rate, the Committee will carefully assess incoming data, the evolving outlook, and the balance of risks.

Many economists are advising Fed chair Jerome Powell and his colleagues to hold off on cutting interest rates next year until things cool off a bit.
