Ripple's RLUSD Stablecoin Officially Launched, XRP Price Increases by 10%
Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin officially launched on December 17, 2024, and this event led to a 10% increase in the price of XRP. The price of RLUSD has drawn attention as some speculators were willing to pay high prices, reaching up to 836 XRP (approximately $1,200) for the first stablecoins, while the actual value of RLUSD is pegged at $1. CEO Brad Garlinghouse confirmed that this launch received approval from the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), reinforcing the legality and reliability of RLUSD.
Ripple has positioned RLUSD not only in the U.S. market but also plans to expand to other regions, although it has not yet been able to launch in the European Union due to the lack of licensing under the MiCA regulation. According to experts, despite a strong start, the price of RLUSD may return closer to the $1 peg as supply stabilizes. This launch not only increased the value of XRP but also opened up significant opportunities for Ripple in the rapidly growing stablecoin market, with a total current value of up to $200 billion.
