The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria recently launched a large-scale raid in Lagos, successfully dismantling a cryptocurrency scam center and arresting 792 suspects. Among them were 148 Chinese citizens and 40 Filipino citizens.
According to Ken Gamble, co-founder of the cybercrime investigation company IFW Global, this scam gang offered Nigerian employees monthly salaries as high as $500, which is 10 times the local minimum wage. The investigation further revealed that Chinese crime groups played a significant role, providing technology, infrastructure, and financial support, primarily targeting users in North America and Europe with 'pig butchering' scams.🔍
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of staying vigilant in the cryptocurrency market.💡
