$BTC Social Capital Founder: It Takes About 8,000 Google Quantum Chips to Crack Bitcoin's Algorithm
On December 15, Social Capital founder Chamath Palihapitiya stated in an online meeting that it would take about 8,000 Google quantum chips to crack the SHA-256 algorithm used by Bitcoin.
Earlier today, Chamath Palihapitiya posted on X, saying: "Quantum computing will pose a risk to v1 encryption methods, but this is not something that can be achieved in the near future."
